Brett F. Willie Has Been Named a Partner of the Firm

Since 2005, Brett F. Willie has been a valuable member of the Environmental and Toxic Tort practice group. Representing clients in both state and federal court, he has extensive experience is a wide range of Environmental & Toxic Tort arenas, including Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM); Legacy (Act 312), oil & gas litigation, occupational noise-induced hearing loss litigation, and asbestos defense. Brett also lends his 17 years of litigation experience as a solid contributor on the firm’s healthcare and employment law defense teams.

A 1999 graduate of Loyola University New Orleans School of Law, Brett joined the Louisiana bar in 2000 and is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state and federal courts.

Prior to joining the firm, Brett was an Environmental Specialist with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) where he managed permitting for industrial and municipal waste facilities. He also presented environmental regulatory updates to members of the regulated community throughout the State. As a firm member, Brett continues to share his knowledge and experience regarding regulatory matters as the author of the firm’s Regulatory Updates section of its Environmental Newsletter. Brett also served as a member of the Louisiana Army National Guard from 1987 until he entered law school in 1996.

In addition to his work with the firm, Brett is an active member of the community serving as a volunteer judge with the annual Mardi Gras Sports Law Moot Court competition hosted by Tulane University School of Law, and representing indigent clients in both criminal and civil cases in the New Orleans metro area. His commitment to public service has extended to the firm where, as a member of the pro bono task force, Brett was instrumental in developing and implementing a firm-wide pro bono policy. He has been actively involved in many clinics throughout the metro area including the Wills for Heroes program on the Northshore. This work has led to recognition for the firm from the Pro Bono Project as the Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year in 2015 and the 2017 recipient of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Award.
